Effects of anoxia on the vascular resistance of the dog's hind limb.

چکیده
A NOXIA is known to induce a biphasic effect on blood flow to the extremities. In anesthetized dogs, there is a decrease in blood flow to the leg during anoxia but this is immediately followed by an increase during reoxygenation. 1-3 Since thermoelectric methods have been used for recording blood flow, it has not been possible to express the vascular responses quantitatively to the same extent as the effects of anoxia on cardiac output and pulmonary vascular resistance. 4 There is general agreement that the initial reduction in blood flow to the extremities is due to neurogenic vasoconstriction, 1 " 3 but the role of chemoreceptors in the carotid and aortic bodies lack direct proof. The increase in blood flow to the extremities during reoxy-genation is due to actual vasodilatation, but the mechanism has been claimed to be either nervous 2 or local in nature. 3 ' 5 The experiments that are reported below are attempts to fill these existing gaps in information. The role of nervous mechanisms is explored by surgical denervation and by a new type of sympathetic blocking drug, bretylium bromide. This drug has been shown to block selectively the sympathetic nerves but spare the actions of catecholamines.

The influence of erythrocyte concentration upon the pressure-flow relationships in the dog's hind limb.
Since alterations in cell-plasma ratios are of paramount importance in the assessment of periplieral resistance, a study of pressure-flow relations was made in which blood having wide hematocrit values was perfused through a dog's hind limb in which collateral circulation has been excluded. When vessels were moderately dilated by denervation, the relative apparent viscosity was not affected by ...
متن کاملInfluence of Anomalous Blood Viscosity on Resistance to Flow in the Dog's
Observations were made on an isolated hind leg preparation of dogs, perfused with blood and various homogeneous perfusates. A wide range of intravascular pressures were used while a constant arteriovenous pressure gradient was maintained. It was found that parallel increases in arterial and venous pressures result in a reduction in resistance to blood flow. A similar change in resistance is obs...

متن کاملEffects of Nano Zinc Oxide on the Hind Limb Bud of NMRI mouse embryos
Nanomaterials are particles with 10 to100 nanometer size. They can easily be transportedthrough the skin, lung alveoli, and placenta. Materials in nano scales show different propertiescompared with the same materials in macro or larger scale. It is found that zinc element is anessential metal for normal physiological functions. However increase or decrease of this elementduring pregnancy, for e...
متن کاملArteriographic Evaluation of Laminitis Digits in the Hind Limbs of Dairy Cattle
Objective: Laminitis is one of the main causes of lameness in dairy cattle. In this situation the corium blood circulation is disrupted and the production of healthy horny hoof wall is reduced. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the arteriographic pattern of the digital arterial branches in the laminitic digits and to compare them with the normal digits. Design: Original study. Animals...
